3 face drug charges in New York

Allentown police vice officers have detained three individuals in relation to their alleged drug activities. The officers claim to have seen a trio of men arrive in two separate vehicles while they were in the process of a drug investigation.

A 42-year-old man arrived in one car; police claim that the man was carrying a bag of heroin and two bags of cocaine in the trunk of the vehicle. The second car contained a 34-year-old man and a 36-year-old man; police say they discovered a digital scale in that vehicle. The men were detained around 11 p.m. on the evening of Aug. 4.

The three men were arraigned on various drug charges on Aug. 5. The charges include conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were all sent to Lehigh County Jail and bail was set at $500,000 each.

Persons accused of similar crimes may wish to employ a criminal defense lawyer, as New York laws provide for substantial penalties in the case of conviction. Which could include potentially lengthy jail terms. A criminal defense lawyer in a case similar to this one might argue that the individuals who arrived in the vehicle with the scale did not intend to use it for illicit purposes or that at least one of them was unaware of or uninvolved in the alleged drug exchange. The attorney might also seek to cast doubt on any evidence that an exchange had been arranged.
